Open Studio: Portfolio & Career Day

Bring your art. Meet your mentors. Find your people.

Join us for a free afternoon of drawing, professional mentorship, portfolio feedback, and career exploration at Ember Art Guild!

Bring your sketchbook, iPad, drawing tablet, or artwork you’d like feedback on and spend the afternoon creating alongside professional artists working in games, animation, comics, and entertainment.

What to Expect:

🔥 Personal Portfolio & Sketchbook Reviews
Sit down with an Ember mentor and get thoughtful, individual feedback on your work. No polished portfolio required—sketches, works in progress, digital paintings, and drawings are all welcome.

✏️ Draw Alongside Professional Artists
Bring whatever you like to create with. Our mentors will circulate throughout the event to draw with you, answer questions, demonstrate techniques, and help you improve your work.

🎮 Explore Careers in Art
Curious about concept art, animation, games, comics, or other creative careers? Talk directly with working professionals about portfolios, college, breaking into the industry, and what creative careers are actually like.

🤝 Meet Other Young Artists
One of the best parts of making art is finding other people who love it as much as you do. Come create, share ideas, and meet other artists from the community.

🎨 Complimentary 1:1 Career & Portfolio Consultation
Every attendee will also receive a complimentary 20-minute private consultation with an Ember mentor following the event to talk more about their artwork, goals, and next steps.

Who Should Come?

This event is for artists ages 13-25 who love making art and want to get better at it. You don't need advanced skills or a professional portfolio. If you're constantly sketching, designing characters, painting on your iPad, dreaming about working in games or animation—or simply wondering how far you could take your art—you belong here.

Parents are welcome to stay! Meet our mentors, see how we work with students, and ask questions about creative education, portfolios, college, and careers in the arts.

Only 15 Student Spots Available

We're keeping our first Ember Open Studio small so every artist has meaningful time with our mentors. Admission is completely free, but registration is required.

Please note: A professional photographer and videographer will be present to capture this special event. Because photography and video may be used in future Ember Art Guild promotional materials, a parent or legal guardian will be asked to provide a media release for participating minors.

Come make some art with us. 🔥
